LAS CUATRO MILPAS GOING OUT OF BUSINESS: FAKE NEWS!

By now we should know that you have to fact check things you hear on social media and the news. No, they are not eating the dogs and double NO, Las Cuatro Milpas is not going out of business. The story was posted on a San Diego blogsite and soon went viral but I am here to tell you that it’s fake news, totally untrue, and that the BEST MEXICAN FOOD IN SAN DIEGO will still be served at Las Cuatro Milpas for years to come. Hopefully forever.

For those of you who don’t know about this little hole in the wall joint it’s located at 1857 Logan Ave in San Diego, a not so touristy area of town. If Anthony Bourdain were still alive it would be the type of place he would love, a local non-touristy spot that simply puts out the best food possible at prices that seem like it’s still 1990. $5 for a Tamal floating in a bowl of rice and beans? Hot sauce that is authentically spicy and not watered down for gringos? A line of people grasping their cash like it’s their last dollar waiting for their spot at the counter to order? Yes, it’s cash only, no, there’s no frilly margaritas or booze of any kind, and no, it’s not the least bit fancy. But locals all know this is the place. Thank God it’s not closing.

So grab your cash (no credit cards, no venmo) and get in line and get ready for the best Mexican food, possibly the best meal, in all of San Diego. I love you Las Cuatro Milpas.
